Random days and events in December

Landon "dollin'" up Abby in some of Brooklynne's dress-ups. She wore them around for a little while but then she eventually waddled her way out of the skirt. Great entertainment for Landon!

Our first fun day in the snow!

Drew's Christmas Program

Visting Santa at the mall

Oh no! Not again!

This is what we woke up to on a Sunday morning during mid-December. You'd think we'd have learned our lesson from Brooklynne's incident. Hide those scissors!

This was a bit of the evidence we found down in the basement.

Does he look happy with his new haircut?
I had to give him what I call the "Warsaw" haircut.
It's a good thing he is so stinkin' cute because the style is rather depressing to me.

Kids Say The Darndest Things

I love the funny things kids throw out of their little minds and mouths. I, too thought this would be a great place to start recording some of the hilarious, usually quite innocent thoughts that our children say.
  1. The other day I was snuggling with Drew. All of my kids know how much I love to have my hair played with, so he started doing just that then when after a few strokes through my hair he asks, "Can you hold on for a minute. I need to get those nostrils out of your hair." Nostrils, snarls...who knows?
  2. I took Brooklynne and Landon to rent some movies at the video store and when we pulled into the parking lot Landon looked up at the Hastings sign and said, "This store is freakin funny". He's three!
  3. Today I was trying to do a quick fix of my hair in the car on the way to Drew's basketball game. There wasn't a lot of hope with the way my hair was going so I started to back comb that top of my hair when I hear Brooklynne from the back of the car ask, "Mom, why are you radishing your hair?"
  4. Landon saw a package of cough drops on the counter and I'm guesssing he thought they were candy and of course asked for some. I told him no and that they were for people that had a cough and asked him if he had a cough. He said yes, of course so then I said lets hear it and he goes, "AAACHOOO!"

Fa La La La La La La La La

Decking the Halls at our House

A view in the night...
Spencer up on the very top of the house! Yikes!Spencer got the special privilege of helping dad put up the Christmas lights this year. We'll see how long he thinks this job is a cool one. They look awesome at nighttime.

This year we started a new tradition by sitting down and having cinnamon rolls and cold milk and talking with each other about why we celebrate Christmas. We also talked to the kids about how blessed we are and how much we really have compared to many others in this world. We asked them to think about ways that we could try and help these people.

Landon said: "Give toys to them."

Brooklynne said: "Give them one of my favorite toys."

Drew said: "Give them some money."

Spencer said: "Give them some clothes."

We were very proud of them for their answers and hope that they will try to have the spirit of giving with them this Christmas season.

Afterwards we got busy with setting up and decorating the Christmas tree and spreading holiday cheer throughout our home as we listened to some of our favorite Christmas music! I love this time of the year, mostly because I get to share it with my wonderful family.

Thanksgiving 2008

Thanksgiving decorations
Drew loves a good drum stick!

We had a great Thanksgiving this year. It was nice and relaxing. I didn't host this year. My sister Caryn did the honors and it was very nice. We always have sooo much food. We are certainly blessed. Sometimes it seems a bit ridiculous but it is always fun. I was kind of mean this year and thought it would be funny to take action photos (surprise photos) of family "enjoying" their meal. Sorry but I thought it was kind of funny. We've gotta have humor in our lives, right?
